Honourable Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Hiroshima
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is dedicated to the legacy of Hiroshima as the first city in the world to suffer a nuclear attack, which led to the deaths of as many as 140,000 people by the end of 1945. Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs and Public Safety and of Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Lesao Archibald Lehohla visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum on 16th October 2009. The Hon. Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Mamokhoenene Lehohla, H.E Mr. M.R Likate and Mrs. Mabataung Likate.
The Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and His delegation were taken on an almost 2 hour long tour of the Park and Museum stopping at the displays for brief discussions about Hiroshima before and after the bombing. The discussions included stories of 6th August using photographs, the belongings of A-bomb victims and other artifacts. The visit was marked with a wreath-laying and signing of the guestbook by the Hon. Deputy Prime Minister.
